Betta fish with their colorful fins add gracious appeal to the whole environment and are the owner’s pride. They are the best and most popular choice for the aquarium. You can have any kind of tank type for your Betta fish according to your budget. Many fish lovers keep these fish as their pet even in deep casseroles or bowls and small tanks.

There is no doubt that there are many artistically beautiful bowls and even vases available to keep your Betta fish. However, one thing to remember is the fact that a fish bowl should be at least capable of holding one gallon. Other things you would require are a 3 inch wide fish net and two bottles (1 gallon each) of drinking water. The water should neither be distilled nor de-ionized.

Although a large number of people keep Betta fish in vases, it’s seriously not advisable. It should have at least 3 gallons space for it to perform well and remain healthy. Filtration is equally important as fish leave its own feces and urine which need to be removed. Changing water in a vase or a small bowl remains at the discretion of an owner, which can make fish more vulnerable to disease and thus could die soon.

It is not advised to have such wonderful creations in such small spaces e.g. bowls, deep casseroles, vases, etc. as they need space to swim around, hygienic and clean water and even a reliable filter system if possible.
But if you still have decided to keep a vase, select a larger one with enough space, a flower pot under liner or even a tray that could be easily adjusted towards the neck of the vase. Then you could also have Spathiphyllum plants or Peace Lily kept towards the top of the vase giving it the most elegant and natural look, with of course some marbles or stones just towards its bottom.

For small tropical one inch fish, one gallon of water is required; this means the smallest tank should be at least 2.5 gallon. To increase the beauty of the tanks you can add few plants, pebbles and also corals in the tank. Corals are the best places for Betta fish – especially females, to hide. You can also add decorations in the tank to add to its beauty.
